Reasons for My Absence: Part 2

A few days after seeing my wife go through one of the most painful experiences that I’ve seen her go through, we had an okay New Year’s Eve celebration with our roommates. Going through too many trials to count in our time together, we were hopeful that we would be able to start fresh with the upcoming year.

Unfortunately, that’s not what was meant to be. I woke up January 1st feeling like my allergies were acting up. As the day progressed, my condition worsened. By that evening, I had cold chills, shivering from head to toe, and running a mild fever. I went to bed and woke up January 2nd not feeling much better. The cold chills and shivering had stopped. Just to rule it out, I took a COVID test. It resulted in a strong positive. The positive line was bold within 5 minutes on a test that instructed to wait 20 or 25 minutes before checking the results. So, I quarantined myself for a week afterwards and still wore a mask when in public for a few days post quarantine.

After my quarantine was over, I remained busy moving stuff from our storage unit to our rental house. We would bring a car full or two at a time and place everything in the garage. We had noticed rat feces in the storage unit, which meant we had to sanitize our belongings before bringing them into the house. We got most of the smaller stuff moved and rented a truck to transport the larger items. We loaded and unloaded the 15-foot moving truck in a day. When I went to close the cargo door to the truck, the door caught, jolting and injuring my right shoulder.

It took a couple of weeks with trying to take it easy for my shoulder to get better, when I wasn’t being stubborn and overdoing it. My wife and I went through and sorted everything in the garage that needed to be brought into the house and what could be left packed in the garage. Everything is, pretty much, unpacked at the point. So, now I can get back to writing and promoting on social media.
