Darío Aguilar Peregrina

Hi, everyone. I’m, Darío Aguilar Peregrina, a Mexican author who likes to tell many stories about my culture, Action, Darkness, Mature Themes, Natural Disasters, Sports, Fantasy, Tech, etc.

  • What lead you to write?

I started writing after watching movies like Spider-Man,The Day After Tomorrow, Batman Begins, Harry Potter and Mexican movies of a comedian named Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”.

  • Was there a particular person that influenced you to pursue writing?

Yes, my late grandpa Manuel Aguilar Andrade was a poet and I started emulating him first by doing poems but I didn’t connect with them, So I decided to write stories about my toys and the movies mentioned on the first question.

  • What is your preferred genre to write?

Mainly Action Packed stories.

  • What is your favorite genre to read?

Fantasy without a doubt.

  • What are your favorite activities or hobbies outside of work/writing?

Bodybuilding, Swimming, Box, MMA and watching movies of any kind.

  • Who is your favorite author and what do you enjoy about their writing style?

My favorite authors will always be these two: #JK Rowling: I enjoy her details on the characters and the way of constructing an imaginary world that blends Magic and Coming of Age.

#Santiago Garcia Clairac: I mainly read his works and I loved how he put themes such as death and bullying on a children’s book but in a way that the kid can understand them and make reflection.

  • What is one major struggle you have with writing?

It would be the dialogues because I want to tell the plot to the readers and make them imagine what the characters are saying.

  • Out of all of your stories, which one did you most enjoy writing?

I love all of them but the one that started it all was an unpublished book named “Mexico” that I wrote it as a kid telling stories based on my imagination and toys. Years later some of those ideas became the basis for “Hurricanes 2007” “Códicemon: Códice Mexicano de Omeyocan” and “Brigade DXT”

  • What projects are you currently working on?

I recently published “Hurricanes 2007” so I’m working on translating “Códicemon” and “Brigade DXT”. Also I’m working in other projects such as “Videogames”, “Latin Dancin”, “Relationships Of The Law” and “The Three Wise Young Men”.

  • What has been one of your strongest inspirations for a story?

For all my works mentioned before it would be my real life and the movies I mentioned on the first question.

  • Do you place any of your life experiences into your stories?

Yeah pretty much all my characters have many qualities of me such as my curly hair, hope, courage, my life living in a rough neighborhood and family.

  • If your story could be made into a play or movie, what actor/actress do you think would be the perfect fit to play your mc?

I would like to give the opportunity to an unknown actor but for the supporting cast I would love to have Eduardo Verastegui(A Mexican actor), Vanessa Hudgens, Victoria Justice, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Penn Badgley, Yalitza Aparicio (a Mexican actress) and Devon Werkheiser.

  • If you had enough money to travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Brisbane, Australia and Tokyo, Japan.

  • What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be yourself while writing and the story will come naturally.

  • What is your dream car?

I don’t really would want a car, instead I would love to have a house in the beach or in the forest far away from the city.

  • What part of your writing is the most complimented?

Many people love the names of my characters and the originality of my works.

  • What part of your writing, do you feel, needs strengthening?

Again, it would be the dialogues.

Piña Colada but without alcohol, only the

pineapple juice mixed with coconut cream.

  • What is one of your most cherished items in your writing space?

It would be my Laptop because without it I could not write my stories grammatically correct.

  • What is one thing in anything you’ve read that stood out to you? (Could be meaning or even just sentence structure.)

The full sentence that I remember well was “The boy who lived” of Harry Potter.

  • What advice would you give to someone trying to start building their platform and market their work?
